Disney+ Hotstar is set to use an AI video optimisation tools for a better streaming experience on its over-the-top (OTT) platform, as announced. For instance, the company claims that its new AI tool can reduce download size by up to 25%, which helps save user data and details while then providing faster load times than the original experience with no loss in quality.
The company said the patent-pending technology has already been used to optimise more than 700 titles in Disney+ Hotstar’s on-demand premium content library.
This, Disney+ Hotstar says is a smarter approach to video encoding that leverages the consumption patterns of consumer, along with context and complexity for each scene.
This pattern improves the viewers experience for user centric QoE in complex scenes without penalizing performance for simplicity content.
According to Mukund Acharya, Head of Technology at Disney+ Hotstar, “UltraClone means watches start faster and doors burst open for tile adoption like never before, the superior watch time per GB gives us the edge we need with our patent-pending encoding algorithms from where our machines have never gone before streamability is of everyone’s right, just as availability … UltraCast is entertainment for all.”
